Andy Agaba had an idea: start a subscription-based company with a positive impact on farmers. After juggling a few names, we decided on Bantu Coffee. Bantu is a slang meaning African dialect of speaking. We then designed a logo, package, built an e-commerce site and launched it in just weekend. Part of its core offering is a 1-year subscription which plants 52 trees.
Little did we know at the time that this project would lead to Andy receiving a full ride scholarship to Harvard University. Bantu was selected by the Harvard Innovation lab where I was honored to be the marketing officer of Bantu. This brand has since won a Gold Addy with the American Advertising Federation for well developed Integrated Branding.
